Letters about the formation of the Committee on Award of the Marconi Memorial Medal. The medal was to have been awarded annually for contributions to radio and David Sarnoff had been chosen as the first recipient but the Committee was dissolved as a result of a disagreement with the policies of the Italian government and the medal was never awarded.

Included are notes and drafts of many of Thomson's early articles, and numerous manuscripts of columns published in the HERALD TRIBUNE in the 1940s. Thomson's special interests reflected in these writings are modern music, American hymns, and the performance of music in Europe. Also, 125 reels of tapes of Thomson's program on radio station WNCN (New York), 1969-1970.
