Production materials documenting Smithsonian's thirteen-part program on the role of radio in transforming the African American community in the twentieth century. The program was produced in 1996 by Jacquie Gales Webb for Smithsonian Productions, with assistance from the AAAMC. The collection contains over 400 hours of interviews and historical aircheck tapes in addition to articles, research files, program scripts, and transcripts. The audio interviews feature conversations with over 150 well-known disc jockeys, radio professionals, record company executives, journalists, and scholars. The historical airchecks include station identifications and jingles, radio interviews with prominent Black figures, coverage of historical events, and programs highlighting or influenced by the contributions of Black performers, disc jockeys, and other important persons in radio.

Huntington was a pastor of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Wilmington, and served as regiment chaplain of the 198th Anti-Aircraft Regiment of the Delaware National Guard during WWII.

The first public radio station in western New England, WFCR Five College Radio has provided a mix of high quality, locally-produced and nationally syndicated programming since May 1961. In 2012, the station reached over 175,000 listeners per week, with a mix of classical and jazz music, news, and entertainment. The WFCR Collection contains nearly 4,500 reel to reel recordings of locally-produced radio programs, reflecting over fifty years of the cultural and intellectual life of western Massachusetts. Drawing upon the talents of the faculty and students of the Five Colleges (Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges and UMass Amherst), the collection offers a remarkable breadth of content, ranging from public affairs to community and national news, cultural programming, children's programming, news and current events, scholarly lectures, classical music, and jazz.

Charlotte Shedd was born in Austria in 1913 as Charlotte Kraus, and became a student of the performing arts. In 1938, she was denied the right to appear on stage because of the Nazi occupation of Austria, the Nuremberg Laws, and her father's Jewish background. On Christmas Eve 1938, she escaped to America with a nearly expired Austrian passport and began her singing career. Shortly thereafter, she met Eleanor Roosevelt's bodyguard, who introduced her to the First Lady, beginning a close friendship that lasted until Mrs. Roosevelt's death in 1962.

The J. David Goldin Collection includes nearly 10,000 radio programs on 16" discs broadcast from the 1930s through the 1950s. The programs include variety shows, radio plays, political speeches, news programs, documentary programs, advertisements, and music programs.
The KSFO Collection consists of audiovisual material and ephemera from this San Francisco radio station's years owned by Golden West Broadcasting, 1956-1983. KSFO was known for their news and sports coverage, as well as the voice talents of such personalities as Don Sherwood, Russ Hodges, Lon Simmons, and Al "Jazzbo" Collins. The majority of this collection involves station marketing, promotions, and fundraisers, although there are airchecks and other broadcast recordings. Production library material includes jingles, themes, music beds, promotional spots, and advertising. Physical media in the KSFO collection is primarily audio on tape (around 650 objects), with some video (largely U-Matic cassettes), 16mm film (four reels), photographs, slides, and ephemera (eight scrapbooks of printed matter).

Evangelical sermons, prayers, and hymnal recordings mostly on compact disc, originally broadcast from 1937 to 1968 on the radio program Old Fashioned Revival Hour with radio host Charles Fuller (1887-1968). The collection includes original programs from the 1950s and rebroadcasts from 2002 to the present. More programs will be added as they become available. The music CDs and cassettes were were produced on the campus of Fuller Theological Seminary and were published between 1999 and 2004.
The Ragtime Machine was a weekly one-hour radio program about ragtime music, produced and hosted by David Reffkin and broadcast on the University of San Francisco's station KUSF. The collection contains all programs from 1981 to 2007, as well as program logs describing their contents, including guests interviewed and songs played.
The Ed Wilkinson Collection consists of classical and opera performance broadcasts of the 1930s and 40s on open reel tape, the majority of which from the Standard Symphony Hour series.
Since 1989, Riverwalk Jazz: Live At The Landing educates and entertains public radio listeners with a program devoted to celebrating traditional jazz and popular music of the pre-war era, featuring performances from the Jim Cullum Jazz Band and guests. This collection contains copies of all the finished programs, as well as elements, other source material, and files documenting every aspect of the show's production.

Doug "Jocko" Henderson was a pioneering "rapping" deejay primarily associated with Philadelphia radio station WDAS in the 1970s. Collection primarily documents Henderson's Get Ready company, which published materials to be used in schools to teach American history, spelling, and the dangers of drug abuse using rap lyrics. Also included is material documenting Henderson's bid for a seat in the United States House of Representatives in Pennsylvania. Materials include audiocassettes, teaching manuals, correspondence, photographs, business cards, press clippings, flyers, and other memorabilia.

Jack "The Rapper" Gibson was a pioneer in Black radio, as well as an innovator, a leader, and a mentor to many in the radio and music industries. His work as a Black radio deejay spanned the early days of Black radio in the 1940s through the Civil Rights Movement, and included stints at WERD-Atlanta, WLOU-Louisville, WMBM-Miami, WCIN-Cincinnati, and WABQ-Cleveland. After retiring from radio in 1961, he became a successful music industry executive working for Motown, Decca, and Stax Records. In 1976, he launched the industry magazine Jack the Rapper, the oldest Black trade publication targeted to radio, and for the next twenty years organized the annual "Jack the Rapper’s Family Affair," a Black music convention drawing generations of performers and music industry executives. His professionalism, continuous fight for racial equality and justice, and endearing human qualities made him a legend in the industry. This collection documents his long career in radio and music through personal correspondence, clippings, memorabilia, photographs, publicity materials, airchecks, interviews, lecture materials, and over 500 issues of his trade magazine "Jack the Rapper's Mellow Yellow."

KTAO-FM was a free-form radio station in Los Gatos, California, that existed from March, 1969, through June, 1974, and operated at 95.3 FM. The KTAO Aircheck Archives comprise audio collages with instruments played in the studio to be used as taped effects; a "jam" session recorded July 29, 1971; and an interview with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans interviewed in Los Gatos by Geoff Alexander and Don Campau, June 9, 1971, at a residence in Los Gatos, California. In addition, the collection includes images of KTAO operators and musicians in 1974; photographs of the 40th anniversary reunion; original Los Gatos business license (1974); several images of counter-culture posters; letter from Gary R. Dahl to Roger Mann.

The Archive of Recorded Sound's Non-Commercial Disc Collections consist of over 10,000 phonographic disc recordings from a variety of donors, the majority of which are either broadcast transcriptions or instantaneous recordings. None were ever available for sale to the general public, and many are unique.
Papers and recordings of radio personality and anchorman Mort Crim, known popularly as the inspiration for the Will Ferrell character in the Anchorman film. Crim was an alumnus of Anderson University and left his personal papers, recordings, and scripts to the University archives, where they are stored.

Over 250 16-inch broadcast transcriptions dated from July of 1941 through February of 1950, divided more or less evenly between news material (principally from the NBC "Blue" network) and "classical" music: largely orchestral music, with some opera selections.
The Don Kennedy papers contain writings, audio recordings, photographs, printed materials, and awards related to Kennedy's television and radio broadcasting career. The bulk of the materials relate to the production of the Big Band Jump radio shows between 1989 and 2013. These include scripts, cue sheets, newsletters, and broadcast masters of the weekly programs. The papers include some full-length interviews with musicians and other big band-era figures that were subsequently edited for broadcast. The collection also includes promotional and photographic materials from his work with television station WATL-TV, 1976-1978; radio stations WKLS FM, 1960-1970, and the Georgia Network, 1972-1982; as well as his time as children's television host "Officer Don," 1956-1969.

Mr. Naylor's papers include scrapbooks relating to his life and career, and scripts for radio programs that he wrote, produced and performed in. Most of the scripts were written during his tenure at WGST, although some of them were written for use on KTAT and KFJZ in Fort Worth, Texas. Many of the Folders of scripts also include listener correspondence relating to the programs, and some contain background material that Mr. Naylor used when creating the shows. Additional content include materials from Mr. Naylor's tenure as the program director of WAGA radio and television from 1951 through 1959, and when he wrote and produced radio and television advertising for Coca-Cola products with the McCann-Erickson advertising agency from 1960 through 1986.

Based in Newark, Delaware, Dreamstreets is a magazine featuring local poetry and writing with an irregular but persistent publishing history since 1977. After appearing once a year, and then in several issues per year, in 1984 the magazine began using radio station WXDR to broadcast performances of its poetry and fiction. Contributors to Dreamstreets also performed at various literary events and poetry readings. Steven Leech is the editor and publisher, with regular contributors such as e. jean lanyon, Douglas Morea, and Phillip Bannowsky.

Mykola Francuzenko was a Ukrainian-American writer (under the pseudonym Mykola Virnyi), translator, theatrical director, radio journalist, and social activist. His literary output includes over 400 works, and he was a writer and broadcaster for the Ukrainian services of both Radio Liberty and the Voice of America during the Cold War. He was known for his speaking and recitation, and was considered a master of the art of the Ukrainian spoken word. His archives contain scripts, working notes, photo albums, and numerous audio tapes, some of which contain unique interview recordings, recordings of poets reading their own works, live recordings of events in the Ukrainian American community, and radio programming of the Ukrainian services of Radio Liberty and the Voice of America.

Ishmael Reed, African-American novelist, poet, and publisher, was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on February 22, 1938. Reed moved with his mother to Buffalo, New York in 1942. His mother worked in various wartime industries and Reed attended public schools, graduating in 1956. He also played violin and trombone and began writing a newspaper column on jazz for the Empire Star Weekly when he was thirteen. He enrolled as an evening student at Millard Fillmore College, the night school division of the University of Buffalo, and worked as a clerk at the Buffalo public library during the day. His writing ability was quickly recognized, and he moved into the bachelor of arts program at the University of Buffalo. He withdrew in 1960 because of a "dire shortage of funds" (Gates) and a "wide gap between social classes" (Gates). To escape "the artificial social and class distinctions that he associated with American university education," (Gates) he moved to Buffalo's Talbert Mall Project. Daily exposure to systematic poverty cycles in the projects led him to political activism in the civil rights and Black Power movements.

Radio program Latino USA began production by KUT and the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin in 1993. In 2010 production moved to the Futuro Media Group. Still produced by Maria Hinojosa and aired on NPR today, Latino USA presents stories on Latina/o history, culture, and current affairs.

WGLT is licensed to Illinois State University and is affiliated with NPR. It was originally a student operated radio station, signing on the air on April 24th, 1962 as a closed circuit radio station. A few years later, on February 4, 1966, the station received FCC licensing and began FM boradcasting. The station became a full NPR member in the 1970's. Both the audio and paper records are unprocessed. In the past year, the university archivist and the station’s general manager (along with a School of Communication professor) started the process to inventory all the audio and paper records.
